ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING

Established in 2008, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) has built a strong reputation for academic excellence, supported by a team of highly qualified and experienced faculty. With exceptional infrastructure, the department emphasizes sound practical knowledge while fostering creativity and innovation among its students.

The department addresses the challenges and opportunities of Electrical, Electronics, Computer, and Control Systems industries, equipping students with the scientific, technological, and problem-solving skills required to design, construct, and maintain products, services, and information systems. The program prepares graduates for diverse career roles such as Design Engineer, Project Engineer, Engineering Specialist, Chief Engineer, Quality Control Engineer, Software Engineer, Development Engineer, Reliability Engineer, Research Engineer, Systems Design Engineer, Field Engineer, Test Engineer, and Sales Engineer. Moreover, Electrical Engineering serves as a foundation for careers in Instrumentation Engineering, Energy Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering.

Research and innovation form a cornerstone of the department’s functioning. In the past two years, faculty members have published more than 25 journal papers, reflecting the vibrant academic culture. Both faculty and students actively engage in research through the Project Lab, Industry-Supported Lab, and Research Lab, with opportunities to publish in refereed journals and conferences.

Students benefit from training programs offered by reputed industries, professional societies, research organizations, and academic institutions. The department also strategically promotes industry interaction with leading Electrical and Electronics companies, creating pathways for internships, collaborative projects, and enhanced career opportunities.

The department has established strong industry linkages by signing MoUs with leading organizations such as Retech Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Tessolve Semiconductors Ltd., Goodwin Motors, and eDGIM Research Pvt. Ltd. These collaborations facilitate industry-relevant R&D projects and internships, providing students with valuable real-world exposure.

Faculty and students are actively engaged in innovative, sponsored research initiatives, with major projects submitted for funding to prestigious government bodies including AICTE, DST-SERB, and MNRE. The department’s commitment to research excellence is further reflected in the significant number of patents filed by faculty members, showcasing their expertise and contributions to emerging technologies.

Looking ahead, the department aims to leverage these experiences to strengthen collaborative research with industry partners and to enhance student outcomes through a holistic approach that integrates teaching, research, development, and training in cutting-edge technologies.

An AICTE ATAL-sponsored 6-day Faculty Development Programme on “Semiconductor Technologies for 5G/6G Wireless Communication” was conducted, with 43 participants from reputed institutions across the country gaining theoretical knowledge, hands-on practice, and industrial exposure, successfully completing the programme and receiving certificates.
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized the International Conference on Power Conversion, Smart Grid and Energy Systems (ICPCES’26) on 10 March 2026 in hybrid mode. The conference featured plenary talks by eminent speakers and included multiple technical sessions conducted both online and offline. It witnessed participation from over 200 researchers worldwide, fostering knowledge sharing and collaboration in modern energy systems.
One-day Workshop on “Building Research Writing Skills” Organized by the department on 02/09/2025, the session was handled by Mr.R.Venkatesan , Assistant Professor m Department of EEE.
Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized a Seminar on “Research Opportunities in Semiconductor materials and Devices” for III year and IV year students. The session was handled by Resource Person Ms.V. Rajakumari, Senior research Fellow in Need laboratory, IIITDM-Kancheepuram, Chennai.

A National-Level Drone Racing Competition was conducted on 25th March 2026 at the Open Auditorium of New Prince Shri Bhavani College of Engineering and Technology. The event witnessed active participation from around 35 students across Tamil Nadu, showcasing their skills in drone navigation and racing.

The Department of EEE is committed to providing high-quality technical education and nurturing competent electrical engineers to meet the evolving demands of industry and society. Our department offers a strong academic foundation combined with practical exposure in the areas of power systems, electrical machines, control systems, power electronics, renewable energy, and emerging technologies.

We are supported by a team of highly qualified, experienced, and dedicated faculty members who are actively involved in teaching, research, training, and mentoring students. The department is well equipped with modern laboratories, advanced software tools, and learning resources that enable students to gain hands-on experience and industry-relevant skills.

To enhance overall student development, the department regularly organizes workshops, industrial visits, guest lectures by industry experts, value-added courses, technical symposiums, and training programs. Emphasis is given to project-based learning, innovation, research activities, and entrepreneurship. Our students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities, professional bodies, and community-oriented programs.

Industry Visit

Educational visit of Electrical and Electronics Engineering students to High Voltage Engineering Laboratory, SSN College of Engineering, Chennai on 13/08/2025. The students explored with Design optimization and fault localization in high vltage equipment.

Industrial visit of EEE students to IPL products Pvt Ltd, Chennai on 25.08.2025. A transformer manufacturing company in Thirumudivakkam Chennai. Students gained knowledge regarding manufacturing of transformers from its initial to final stage

Value Added Course

Value Added Course on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles: Concepts, Systems and Applications was Organized by the Department of EEE from 21.07.2025 to 26.07.2025 for the third year students and 28.07.2025 to 02.08.2025 for the second year students

Six-day Value Added Course on “ Industrial Automation using PLC Devices” Organized by Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering for II year students during 03.01.2026 to 09.01.2026

Program Outcomes: (POs)

PO1: Engineering Knowledge: Apply knowledge of mathematics, natural science, computing, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization as specified in WK1 to WK4 respectively to develop to the solution of complex engineering problems.  

 

PO2:  Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions with consideration for sustainable development. (WK1 to WK4) 

 

PO3: Design/Development of Solutions: Design creative solutions for complex engineering problems and design/develop systems/components/processes to meet identified needs with consideration for the public health and safety, whole-life cost, net zero carbon, culture, society and environment as required. (WK5)

 

PO4:  Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Conduct investigations of complex engineering problems using research-based knowledge including design of experiments, modelling, analysis & interpretation of data to provide valid conclusions. (WK8)

 

PO5:  Engineering Tool Usage:  Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering & IT tools, including prediction and modelling recognizing their limitations to solve complex engineering problems. (WK2 and WK6)

 

PO6: The Engineer and The World: Analyze and evaluate societal and environmental aspects while solving complex engineering problems for its impact on sustainability with reference to economy, health, safety, legal framework, culture and environment. (WK1, WK5, and WK7)
